J.M. Taggart tends to operate in that liminal space between fantasy and science fiction. Not quite magic, not quite science. All with a heavy dose of romance thrown into the mix. She likes her worlds dark, but her romances sweet. She likes sassy characters, stylised violence, and knife-edge romances that keep you guessing. You'd be hard-pressed to find one of her stories without monsters, ghosts, or come element of the occult.

Her stories explore the edge where strength meets vulnerability, where love is complciated, and where survival often demands more than just courage and a plucky attitude. If you pick up a J.M. Taggart book, brace yourself for messy characters, big feelings, and a few dramatic exits.

When she isn't being mercilessly bossed around by her characters, J.M. Taggart enjoys gardening, doom-scrolling, and, occasionally, baking. She lives in Queensland with her husband, two-year-old daughter, and a managerie of pets, including two border collies, a bearded dragon, and a couple of pythons. She is also currently expecting her second child. Wish her luck!
